Review:
Overview:
Nokia 800 is the flagship Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS phone from Nokia, which got released recently in India at a price of
around Rs. 27000/-. It is a powerful phone compared to all other Symbian phones with 1.4 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM. The 3.7 inches AMOLED
Capacitive Touchscreen is quite touch sensitive and effective with Nokia ClearBlack Display and Multi-touch input method but Super AMOLED plus would
have been more suitable for this costly phone. The 8 MP Camera is quite good enough with lots of functions, but the lack of a front camera in this phone is going
to hurt its sales. The phone has MicroSIM card support only. Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS has been critically acclaimed by many reviewers. And
Nokia 800 is one beauty which has embraced this powerhouse OS. We will spell out the main Advantages and Disadvantages.
Advantages:
The phone has Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support as well as Quad-band 3G with reasonably high speed of 14.4 Mbps HSDPA and 5.7 Mbps HSUPA. The
3.7\" 16M-color AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixel resolution is quite a stunner and together with Scratch resistant Gorilla glass display it is
practical too. The anti-glare polarizer on the screen is quite useful while using it in sunlight. Image capturing is of very high quality and efficiency with 8
megapixel autofocus camera which has dual LED flash and fast f/2.2 lens. Video recording at 720p@27fps is of very high quality. Coming to the OS, Windows
Phone 7.5 OS (Mango) as we said earlier is quite good with lots of positive reviews coming in and the fast 1.4GHz Scorpion CPU, Adreno 205 GPU,
Qualcomm MSM8255 chipset and 512MB of RAM complements the OS completely and effectively. Coming to the design aspect, the Non-painted
polycarbonate unibody and curved screen makes the phone quite stunning looks which is going to be talked over for long time. The GPS receiver with A-GPS
support and free lifetime voice-guided navigation available in selected countries plus the Digital compass is a very good bonus. Other plus points include Active
noise cancellation with a dedicated mic, Built-in accelerometer, 16GB on-board storage and proximity sensor and a very supportive and efficient SNS
integration.
Disadvantages:
Main disadvantages include no adaptability for external storage device, lack of a secondary front camera which allows no video call, lack of memory card slot,
and availability of only microSIM card slot. The fact that battery is not user replaceable also is a drawback.
